I've been to Charleston and I live in Murrells Inlet now. In the spring I attended a garden tea party which was a lot of fun. Taking photographs inspires me, and if I forget my camera, I just use my phone.
If anybody would like to meet at Brook Green Gardens or Huntington Beach State park for a group adventure, I'd love to join you. I've even got a pass to Huntington that will get one carload in for free.
Edie, thanks for sharing these great tips!Jackie Laytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11921544145225306649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6741198392419248083.post-42185912822921977352017-10-19T21:15:27.095-04:002017-10-19T21:15:27.095-04:00Thank you for the article. Been reading a lot of t...Thank you for the article. Been reading a lot of them. I believe there'll never be a unanimous opinion on the subject. Like politics, tastes in movies, or what you prefer on your pizza all differ person to person. And so it is with Christian fiction. I prefer realism woven in to stories so that means even as a believer when upset, hurt physically or emotionally an expletive or two might come out. As an adult I can handle portrayals of adult situations in a way that's unsuitable for children yet without the excess. Now someone else would find that offensive and nobody wants to offend. If something is not for me I don't dismiss it as trash or of the devil if not my cup of tea. Because that same work of fiction may work for others and be a blessing to them. We all have the right to our respective likings. We should be respectful and accept that there is room for the entire spectrum one end to the next. It's Christian fiction and no one style or presentation is superior to the other. Tomato, Tomata. I suspect very few. I've been on Facebook for 6-7 years, and have developed a lot of Friends by doing what you said, building relationships. I truly consider them all as friends, no matter how they see me. Also, as you said, I've had very few drop me, despite my obvious Christian slant in my posts. My thought is if I love them, they'll love me. We are pleased someone is reading our archives. If Chritian fiction is dying out, how can we explain the latest blockbuster Christian fiction film, WAR ROOM, making so many millions? Hope you'll check it out. I also hope you'll check out my new inspirational romantic suspense novel coming out in 2017, Summer of Deception. I think you'll find it does reflect the reality of life in modern-day America but also shows the reality of how Father God still wants to bring intervention and help for our troubles. War Room is a great reflection of this, too. A few other great Christian fiction authors I hope you'll check out are: Francine Rivers, Robert Whitlow, Mary Lu Tyndale, Lynette Eason, and Lisa Carter. Your comment certainly is valid, as some Christian fiction in the past may not have reflected these values. Most of the Christian writers I know are working hard to make sure that doesn't happen in our current books.
Blessings on your day,
Elva Cobb Martin, President
ACFW-SC Chapter
Anderson, SC www.elvamartin.com 3/4/16Elva Cobb Martin, South Carolinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09278744225513549876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6741198392419248083.post-45949123310898265682016-03-04T13:24:35.163-05:002016-03-04T13:24:35.163-05:00As a Christian reader, I don't read a lot of C...As a Christian reader, I don't read a lot of Christian fiction because it doesn't reflect the reality of life in modern-day North America and can see a day when it will die out.Melissa Wiebehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02657787882718834484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6741198392419248083.post-67836645769365246312016-03-04T11:07:13.835-05:002016-03-04T11:07:13.835-05:00Good job, Edie!
